Info: Want to know more about ethics, copyright and your responsibilities with AI? Heard all the arguments about why all AI is plagiarism or read about the landmark case with Perplexity but not sure why this is an issue? This session explores key considerations in the development and use of Generative AI. We will wrestle with concepts such as ownership, copyright, and ethics and the determination of what is the work being done. Through pre-polling, case studies, and interactive discussion, attendees will examine the gap between public opinion and informed debate, and reflect on the ethical and financial implications of AI in creative and business contexts. Participants will be challenged to consider not only what AI can do, but whether it should. Both UNSW Students and Staff are welcome to attend.
Info: Bring a role you’d like to land and get hands-on in this interactive workshop. Using free tools and your own device, you’ll build an AI passport to transform scattered experiences into targeted CVs, cover letters, LinkedIn updates, and interview stories. You’ll leave with practical job-ready assets and a clear set of rules for ethical, effective use of AI in hiring. Both UNSW Students and Staff are welcome to attend. Attendees should bring their own laptop.
Info: Agents of Impact is a showcase presented by EY and designed for students eager to explore how AI and autonomous agents are solving real problems.
In this talk, you’ll learn how we see intelligent agents operate in dynamic environments—making decisions, collaborating with humans, and delivering measurable value. Discover how AI is used to automate tasks, enhance user experiences, and unlock new insights, as well as how to measure the value delivered by these agents.
This is your chance to hear about AI in action and understand the skills and thinking needed to build or work with these technologies. Whether you are curious about tech, ethics, or career opportunities, Agents of Impact will inspire you to think critically and creatively about the future of AI.
This showcase is brought to you by Lukas Bower from EY Studio+. Lukas leads generative AI services for some of Australia's largest financial institutions. Both UNSW Students and Staff are welcome to attend.
Info: By 2050, nearly 70% of the world’s population will live in cities, making them critical testing grounds for AI’s impact on society and business. This interactive session begins with a keynote on AI in city planning and management, followed by a panel discussion on public engagement, ethics, and investment in AI for city-making. The session will include participation from NSW Government or Local Government representatives in the Q&A discussion. Info: Join us for an in-depth look at how Canva launched cutting-edge AI tools at Canva Create, focusing on our journey from concept to deployment. We'll dive deep into two key innovations: AI-powered sheets that help people collaborate with AI more effectively, and Canva AI, conversational design assistant that transforms how users interact with our platform.
This presentation will take you behind the scenes of how we built these capabilities as a design team, showcasing the technical and design challenges we navigated. You'll learn about our launch strategy, the iterative process of developing conversational AI interfaces, and how we designed features that enhance rather than replace human creativity. We'll demonstrate actual products and share real insights from our development process.
Students will gain valuable understanding of AI product development from a design perspective, learn about launching AI features at scale, & discover how building these tools transformed our own workflows.
Info: This workshop shows how AI can support career exploration and planning, from identifying transferable skills to tailoring job applications. Through interactive activities, students will learn how to use AI tools to explore career options, build confidence in articulating their strengths, and prepare for future opportunities.
Both UNSW Students and Staff are welcome to attend. Attendees should bring their own laptop.
Info: Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming marketing and marketing analytics, creating demand for new skillsets that blend creativity, data literacy, and technological fluency. Info: Modern AI systems are increasingly entrusted with decisions that affect our lives, sometimes with catastrophic consequences. This interactive workshop explores the “responsibility gap” — the philosophical and practical question of who is responsible when AI goes wrong. Through case discussion and group activity, students will debate accountability in real-life scenarios such as accidents involving self-driving cars.
Also presented at 3:45 pm. Both UNSW Students and Staff are welcome to attend.
Info: Forget boring rote memorization. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll discover how the ancient art of “memory palaces” can be supercharged with generative AI. You’ll learn how to turn ordinary facts into vivid, AI-generated scenes. Think of castles of calculus, or dungeons filled with economic theories. By the end, you won’t just remember better, you’ll have built your own personalized AI memory palace to take with you into study (and beyond).
Both UNSW Students and Staff are welcome to attend. Attendees should bring their own laptop with access to Copilot.
Info: Ever wondered what it takes to launch a successful startup? Curious about the journey from a simple idea to a groundbreaking product?
